María Sánchez no longer plays in the Liga MX Femenil, but she is still one of the most beloved players by Mexican fans. Proof of this was the effusive reception in which she was her home for a year, the University Stadium, during the game between Mexico and Suriname. But not only in Monterrey has she received affection and support, since everyone who follows women’s soccer closely knows that the one from Idaho is a player who makes a difference with her charisma and game.
The “Bombi” turns 26 today and it can be said that she is at a huge point in her career. Now that she has returned to the NWSL to be (or at least hopefully) a starter for the Houston Dash, the offensive midfielder has fulfilled her dream of reaching the most competitive league in the world. Today she can presume to leave a legion of her followers on Mexican soil who follow her career at the foot of her canyon and who lovingly surrender to her when they see her play live.
For the Aztec country there is no better news than having a player like her in their ranks. Someone who plays football splendidly and has total communion with his fans. And we have no choice but to enjoy the gift he gives us on the pitch over and over again.
