The Federal Court of Appeal reiterates the long stop that the Coni had canceled. The attacker, today in Alessandria, has always denied the accusations. He will have to miss the next eight games
The Federal Court of Appeal again imposed 10 days of disqualification, as per the first instance judgment then canceled by the Coni sentence, on the attacker Michele Marconi for the racist sentences pronounced against an opponent (Obi, ed) in a Pisa- Chievo last season. The player, today in Alessandria, will therefore have to skip the next eight games, having already served two of the ten rounds of disqualification. It will only return in 2022.
Accusation
–
According to the indictment Marconi, during the Serie B match Pisa-Chievo on 22 December 2020, he used the phrase “the slave revolt” addressed to the Nigerian midfielder Obi. At the end of the game, the Venetian club had denounced the episode of racism, complaining that no one had intervened while the game was in progress despite those words having been “heard by most”. The Federal Prosecutor had immediately opened an investigation that led to the referral and the maxi disqualification. Sentence then “canceled” by Coni and, now, confirmed again by the Federal Court of Appeal.
Marconi has always denied the accusations and initially his referral by the FIGC Prosecutor’s Office, which had asked for 10 rounds of stop, was rejected by the disciplinary section of the National Federal Court. At the beginning of May, however, the appeal of the Prosecutor’s Office was accepted by the Federal Court of Appeal, which imposed the requested disqualification on Marconi, but the player appealed to the Coni College of Guarantee, which on August 31 canceled the sanction by referring the case back to the CFA for rescheduling. Today the new sentence, which in fact confirms that of May.
