The Marche regional council has approved a resolution that extends the administration of the anti-Papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine to pharmacies, approving the experimental agreement between the Region, Federfarma Marche and Confservizi Assofarm Marche. “We are implementing what is foreseen in the regional socio-health plan 2023-2025 which contemplates this vaccination in pharmacies – states the vice-president and councilor for health of the Marche region, Filippo Saltamartini – With the strengthening of this vaccination through the extension to pharmacies we will be able to increase the number of people vaccinated against HPV with positive effects both in terms of reducing the number of people who get sick and healthcare costs”.
The experimental agreement – we read on the Region’s website – will be valid for 2 years from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2026. The 2 thousand doses that will be delivered to pharmacies at the beginning of next year are intended for patients of the Regional Health Service who in passed, despite having the characteristics, they did not show up at the Ast vaccination services to carry it out.
The audience interested in the anti-HPV vaccination is female born since 1996, up to 29 years of age (thirties excluded) and male born since 2006. Pharmacies will be paid an all-inclusive remuneration of 8 euros for each inoculation. Currently, the anti-HPV vaccine is administered by general practitioners, paediatricians and by the vaccination services of local health authorities.
