Marcello Mutti, well-known entrepreneur and undisputed head of the famous canning company, has passed away at the age of 83
In the past few hours, the well-known entrepreneur and head of industry of a famous canning company in the tomato sector passed away at the age of 83: Marcello Mutti.
These are the words of the son Francis dedicated to the father and released to The Gazette of Parma:
“The legacy he leaves us is that of seeing the company as a value, based on the importance of planning and construction. A company where attention and respect for people must be a priority”
The private life and great entrepreneurial success of Marcello Mutti
Marcello Mutti, born in 1940, graduated in Economy and Commerce and, after achieving it, he got married on 19 September 1966 with Angelita Rossimet at university.
From their happy union their son was born Franciswho became CEO of the Mutti company in 1994.
His incredible entrepreneurial spirit has brought him great and undisputed success. Particularly noteworthy was the idea of using the glass as a tomato preservation method, setting up a line entirely dedicated to passed.
His son Francesco remembers him like this:
“My father was a shy man, but with a very big heart, who had an innate culture of giving. He loved nature very much and, when he saw it ‘trampled’, he suffered greatly. He loved large natural spaces, those of the plains and those of Africa, where the gaze was lost in the infinite”, recalls Francesco Mutti.

Mutti has had the honor throughout his existence of speaking and claiming the importance of the concept of sustainabilityeven before this became actual news. He was an ardent supporter of the reuse and of fight against waste.

“Over these 42 years I have always had a beautiful, direct and incredibly respectful relationship with Mr Mutti. He was a pure person, endowed with rare intelligence and sensitivity. An elegant man, at times pleasantly ironic, and of great depth: with his sincerity and refinement he always knew how to present himself in a polite, precise and respectful way”.
And he further stated:
“Mr Marcello knew how to stimulate attachment to the company in every employee, so much so that here in Piazza the air that has always been breathed is that of dedication. He had a concern for his collaborators also made up of small gestures, which expressed his way of being. Gestures that unfailingly conveyed his values: important values for making entrepreneurship something extraordinary, not necessarily linked to economic interest, but to the well-being of the people who worked with him. So every employee has always felt part of a journey to create the history of the company together”.
