The role of doctors and the health sector has been paramount and vital in the fight against Covid-19. Marc Sorel, a professor and doctor at Nemours hospital in France, where he ran the pain treatment unit, is one of hundreds of success stories in that battle against the coronavirus.
A year ago, Dr. Sorel contracted the disease while treating several patients with his medical team at Nemours hospital.
A year after learning about his case and having interviewed him for France 24 while he was suffering from Covid-19, journalists Karim Yahiaoui and Achraf Abid visited Professor Sorel to learn how he is facing the pandemic today.
Dr. Sorel highlights the importance of a quick reaction to the disease to avoid complications. And he highlights the work of the medical team that he leads, since he was under his care.
Precisely, and as one of her collaborators says, caring for patients with Covid-19 is a task that, together with the pandemic, reminded them of the human part of their profession and its main objective: saving lives.
