It is proposed to amend the technical regulation “On the safety of toys”: to cancel the ban on the production of products from recyclable materials. The head of the Association of Children’s Goods Industry Enterprises (AIDT) Antonina Tsitsulina told Izvestia about this.
She noted that the decision to ban the production of toys from recycled raw materials was taken in 2009, when the technical regulations were being developed. Then the experts did not focus on recycling and the restriction was partially moved from the sanitary and hygienic standards for the production of toys almost 40 years ago.
Now the ban is hampering the development of the industry in Russia, she said. International manufacturers cannot sell part of their products on the Russian market, and domestic companies are not included in the development of a circular “green industry”.
Antonina Tsitsulina stressed that the proposal to lift the ban had already been considered at the EAEU working group, which includes representatives of all member countries of the union. Then they will be sent to countries to receive positions, after which the draft amendments to the regulations will be submitted for public discussion.
The expert stressed that the developer of the technical regulation “On the safety of toys” – Belarus – has so far opposed the amendments. Experts from the Ministry of Health of this country doubt that manufacturers will be able to create safe products from recycled materials.
