The awards ceremony pays tribute to maestro Padilla and the bullfighting critic Calañés
The maestro Padilla, the bullfighting critic Felipe de Paco, posthumously, and Manuel Perera last night became the protagonists of the awards and honors ceremony of the first Villa de Blanca Bullfighting Contest, at the Victoria Theater. Bullfighting journalist José Francisco Bayona presented the event.
The trophy for the best pair of flags went to El Russo, who was awarded by Jesús Cano. Councilors Ana Belén Cano and María Luisa Candel presented awards to the representatives of the Bullfighting Circle and the Peña Manolete. The artist Nicolás de Maya did the same with Felipe de Paco’s children, ‘Calañes’. The painter Luis Fernández received the award from Mayor Pedro Luis Molina as the author of the poster, and Luis Fernández presented Nicolás de Maya for his defense of bullfighting.
The Excellence Award went to journalist José Enrique Moreno. The councilors Vicente Candel and Paula Cano presented the awards for Best Livestock and Best Steer to La Pincha breeder, José Antonio Baigorri, while the winner of the contest, Manuel Perera, received it from Candel. The first mayor closed the event by delivering the Professional Career Award to Juan José Padilla.
