About Manuel Donayre
The Creole interpreter was born in San Luis de Cañete. He started in music at a young age within a family of singers. At the age of five, he received the accolade of none other than Jesús Vásquez, the 'Queen and Lady of the Creole Song', who heard him sing and exclaimed: “You were born to be a star.” He lived in Barrios Altos, where his art was shaped under the tutelage of his grandmother and uncles. Some time later he would meet another legend, Lucha Reyes, who would also encourage him to continue with his dream of being an artist.
Its golden and glorious era was in the the 80's, when he recorded his first LP and received a gold record for high sales. Later, she recorded approximately 45 albums. An episode that is still remembered is that of 1982, when the Spanish divo Julio Iglesias arrived in our country to give a concert at the National Stadium. Donayre closed the show because the waltz 'Our Secret', in his voice, was a hit. In 1993 she left for the United States to dedicate herself to her family, but she did not stop performing on stage.
