The PRO-Am title of the Italian GT Championship Sprint series remained in the hands of the young Simon Mann, who is repeated in 2021 after the success of 2020.
In this exclusive interview with Motorsport.com we asked the AF Corse driver what are his dreams, his expectations for the future and his dream.
Second season in the GT Sprint and second Italian title, tell us your impressions …
“It was incredible to be able to win my second title in two years, and an honor to be able to take home the Italian championship at the wheel of an AF Corse Ferrari. They again played a fundamental role in my success. The Italian GT is very competitive. therefore the value of the second title in two years is an enormous added value and fills me with pride “.
Was it more difficult than last year?
“This year the level was even higher. The Lamborghini of LP Racing was very fast and very competitive, the Honda was also very fast, so the level was tougher than in 2020. Even if it was more difficult to win the title for this was a real pleasure to confront myself and win this challenge “.

For you this year the reserve seat at the 24h of Le Mans has also arrived: when will the debut be?
“It was already a privilege to be first reserve, even if they didn’t take me in the end. I will have the exceptional opportunity to race in the WEC next year with Christoph Ulrich and Toni Vilander so I should be with them at Le Mans in 2022!”
Now the last round of the Endurance series awaits you in Monza, what are your expectations?
“The last race of the Endurance Championship will be in Monza shortly. I will be able to play for the title once again, with just a few points behind. The plan is to do my best for the weekend and try to get a good result; enough to allow me to win the Endurance title for the first time. “
What is your dream in the drawer?
“To be able to participate at the highest level in GT competitions with Ferrari and AF Corse, to race in Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring and all the legendary Endurance races. But for the moment there is the Italian GT Endurance Championship in Monza, then 100% concentration to get the best possible result and close the season in the best way! “
