Destroyed artwork replaced – exhibition to continue as planned
According to the report, the perpetrator himself is 57-year-old Vaclav Pisvejc, who describes himself as a protest artist. The police arrested the man in Bologna after his act: “In addition to the serious damage caused to the work, we regret that this gesture disrupted an evening dedicated to art and culture that should have taken place in an atmosphere of exchange and harmony,” said Galansino.
A spokesperson explained that the exhibition will still go ahead as planned. The object in question has already been replaced with a reproduction by the artist for the original. But works of art do not always disappear on purpose: a few years ago, a cleaner accidentally removed a work of art worth 800,000 euros. (bk)
