United States.- A man caused the death of a nine-year-old girl after he shot at a van in which he believed the person who assaulted him at an ATM in southwest Houston Texas in the U.S.
Tony Earls, 41 was accused of shooting Arlene Alvareza Hispanic girl from nine years who died hours after being shot in the head while traveling in a van with his family.
The unfortunate mistake made by man occurred on February 14. The police versions detail that Earls was robbed after withdrawing money from an ATM and moments later he took out a firearm and shot the suspect, in the middle of the confrontation, he believed that the thief had entered a black van that was passing by the avenue and he shot at her, without thinking that five people were traveling inside the vehicle, including little Arlene, who received a blow to the head.
Although the minor was quickly helped by the emergency services and transferred to a hospital, Arlene died last Tuesday.
According to the news agency Associated Press, Armando Álvarez, father of the minor He commented that when he heard the shots he exclaimed “Get down!” However, Arlene, who was traveling in the back of the truck, was wearing ear muffs and was the only one who did not get down; “She didn’t listen to me,” she lamented.
Tony Earls was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault for causing grievous bodily injury in the shooting and was being held in the Harris County Jail on $30,000 bond, charges filed before Arlene’s death, for which Dane Schiller, spokesman for the prosecution said that the possibility of updating the charges against Earls would be analyzed.
