The police arrested a 28-year-old from Eindhoven on Tuesday on suspicion of assisted suicide. He is said to have provided several people with a lethal drug, so it has Public Prosecution Service Wednesday announced. The man is also suspected of violating the Medicines Act and money laundering.
The case has been going on for some time, says the Public Prosecution Service, and came to the fore after the death of several people, who allegedly took a lethal substance provided by the suspect. The Eindhoven resident is also suspected of selling a drug that reduces vomiting tendencies. This medicine is only available through doctors and pharmacists. Because the suspect is not a doctor or pharmacist, he is in violation of the Medicines Act.
The money that the man earned from the sale of the drugs was used by the suspect for his livelihood. The Public Prosecution Service therefore also suspects him of money laundering. It is not known how many people the man would have provided the drugs to. That remains to be seen from further research.
