Arizona, United States.– Mark Adams Prieto was charged with trafficking, possession and transfer of firearms, for allegedly planning a shooting that would start a “race war” at a Bad Bunny concert in Atlanta, before the United States elections.
“The indictment alleges that, between January 2024 and May 2024, Prieto had conversations with two individuals who were working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to devise a plan to commit a mass shooting of African Americans and other minorities to incite a race war ahead of the United States elections,” the Department of Justice reported in a statement.
The 58-year-old man was arrested a month ago and indicted this week by a federal jury. Prieto, according to the statement, did not know that the people with whom he devised the plan were working with the Government.
Although the Department of Justice report does not specify that Prieto planned to carry out the shooting at a concert by the Puerto Rican singer, US media drew this conclusion based on the dates provided in the report.
According to the Department of Justice, “the intended event was a concert in Atlanta that was going to be held on May 14 and 15, 2024,” the date on which Bad Bunny performed at the State Farm Arena.
Additionally, Prieto allegedly illegally sold weapons to an undercover FBI agent after discussing his plans to carry out the attack.
The New York Post said that the accused had allegedly hidden weapons in the vicinity of the venue where the concert would take place.
