Mali has suffered from jihadist violence since 2012.
At least more than 30 people have been killed in Mali, West Africa, when suspected Islamists attacked a bus and set it on fire in the central part of the country, the British Broadcasting Corporation said BBC on saturday. The majority of the victims were women on their way to the market.
The bus was going from Songo village to Bandiagara village market when armed men shot its driver and set the car on fire. According to local authorities, the number of victims may continue to rise as people are missing.
Located in the poor and unstable Sahel region of West Africa, Mali has suffered from jihadist violence since 2012. Thousands of civilians and soldiers have died as a result of jihadist violence and hundreds of thousands have been forced to flee their homes.
The EU is conducting a military crisis management training operation in Mali, in which Finnish soldiers are also participating.
