A plane carrying Malawi Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine other people has disappeared. It reports it BBC citing a note from the presidential office. The Malawi Defense Force plane “disappeared from radar” after leaving the nation’s capital, Lilongwe, the note underlines.
The plane, which took off this morning from the capital Lilongwe, should have landed at Mzuzu international airport, in the north of the country. «All efforts by the aviation authorities to make contact with the plane since it disappeared from radar have so far failed. Therefore, the Commander of the Malawi Defense Force, General Valentino Phiri, informed (President) Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera of the incident and the President canceled his scheduled departure to the Bahamas and ordered all regional and national agencies to conduct an immediate search and rescue operation investigation to locate the whereabouts of the aircraft. The public will be updated on any developments in the situation as the facts are ascertained”, concludes the note.
