If you've been following us for a while, you'll know that Majority it's a fairly well-known brand in these parts; In fact, there are already several products from the British company that we have tested and told you about, and today we will do so in relation to the Majority D80.
What if I had never heard of Majorityyou just need to know that it is an English manufacturer specialized in the sale of speaker, radio, soundbar and a bit in general about everything related to the audio sector, distinguishing its offer for a excellent value for money.
Today we will talk about Majority D80or a speaker system Bluetooth defined by the manufacturer as “off the shelf”, but which in fact can be used in various ways. Let's close the premises and move on to discover the product.
Unboxing and contents of the Majority D80
As always, despite the low price, Majority it amazes us with well-finished packaging and complete equipment, obviously relating to the product. Opening the package of Majority D80, which highlights how the manufacturer offers a 3-year warranty on the crates, we find everything well packaged between two foam pads.
Inside the box we therefore have our two speakers, the power supply and inside a small box they house a remote control and two cables, one of which (jack to jack) is used to connect the two speakers while the other is a classic one RCA for any connections to a PC or TV.
Having picked up the speakers of the Majority D80, the first impact is more than positive: despite the relatively low price they don't seem at all cheapbut on the contrary they are massive and the matte finish is also pleasant to the touch.
Although they are not designed to be used on the move, the speakers have a hole on the back to facilitate transport. Turning the wheels we realize how one of the two is the main “mother” speaker, since it houses both the various cable outlets and a port USB (to be used only for playing audio from pendrives and similar) and an output HDMI.
Furthermore, always on the back, there are 3 knobs that allow us to set the volume, bass power and, conversely, gods treble or the high notes. Finally, just next to it there are 3 buttons with which to turn on the speakers, activate their connectivity and set the equalizer by alternating the preset sets.
The installation of the Majority D80 takes place in a simple and intuitive way: just connect the speakers together with the supplied wire and attach the main speaker to the power supply. In a matter of seconds the system is ready for usealthough at this juncture you can notice one of the few defects of the product, namely the length of the threads available.
Much the power cord How much RCA cables And jack to jack, they are extremely short, forcing us to rearrange the layout of the system and partially limiting its use. From this perspective we can consider the Majority D80, more like a speaker system for PC or desktop rather than to be installed in a bookcase or as speakers for a TV.
In any case, with the supplied remote control, use is convenient and simple; we have at our disposal all the controls on the back of the speakers, so in a few seconds we can act on the reproduced sound.
Performance
Using the Majority D80, for their main purpose, that is to play content via Bluetooth, the result is (as well as fast) very good. By connecting my smartphone I played both music and videos, receiving a clear and full-bodied sound.
Going more specifically, when listening to audio tracks the components of the piece itself can be clearly perceived. The bass does an excellent job (despite being a little more limited) and the sound is reproduced with good fidelity compared to an HD source, allowing us to clearly hear the various musical instruments playing and the singers' voices.
Likewise, playing a multimedia content like a TV series, both the voices and the sound effects reach our ears without latency and in an optimal manner. In this case we can also select the equalizer preset by setting it to “cinema”, while the other two modes are dedicated to music and more conversational content, such as a podcast.
It should be underlined how, even when the volume is turned up to an annoying level, crackles and creaks come from the speakers, but only a healthy noise from deafness.
Overall I found the “Movie” preset to be the best compromise, also for listening to music, taking into account that with only two speakers it is difficult to find something better on the market. Perhaps only more famous brands offer something more performing, but certainly not in this arrow card.
The Majority D80 they can also easily be used as gaming speakers; connected to a PC they offer a very good experience, comparable to some more famous sets.
Obviously we cannot expect a surround sound experiencebut fortunately the speakers offer us such depth and quality that we don't regret it too much.
The Majority D80s are purchasable on Amazon at the indicative price of €99.00.
