International defender Harry Maguire suffered a muscle injury and will be absent from the field for a period of three weeks, according to what his club, Manchester United, revealed on the eve of the confrontation with Crystal Palace in the English Football League.
Maguire joined United’s long injury list, after suffering an injury during training.
Maguire will therefore miss United’s remaining matches this season against Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Newcastle and Brighton, but he may have the opportunity to play in the FA Cup final against Manchester City on the 25th.
Maguire’s absence is another blow to United’s Dutch coach Erik ten Hag, after he was forced to field Brazilian midfielder Casemiro in the centre-back position in the last two domestic league matches.
The defensive line is also absent from the Swedish Victor Lindelöf (hamstring), Argentine Lisandro Martinez (calf), Frenchman Raphael Varane (muscle), and full-back Luke Shaw (muscle).
United fell to eighth place in the English Premier League, after Chelsea and Newcastle won this weekend over Burnley and West Ham in succession, and needs to return to the winning tone against Crystal Palace, to boost its hopes of finishing the season among the top six.
