Time magazine annually publishes a guide with the 100 best places to visit. This year, the publication did not include any Brazilian destination, but there are 8 tourist recommendations to visit in Latin America.
Among established places, such as Paris and New York, and remote ones, such as Goa, India, and Ljubljana, Slovenia, the ranking was based on the recommendations of the correspondents of the American publication. The focus of this list was the places that “offer new and exciting experiences“.

– Salar de Uyuni – Bolivia
The Bolivian salt desert covers more than 10,000 square kilometers at an altitude of 3,656 meters. Between December and April a mirror effect is created between the rainwater and the salty surface, which makes the sky project its reflection on the horizon.
– Quito – Ecuador
The Ecuadorian capital became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978 due to its Baroque art buildings. Founded 487 years ago, Quito stands out for its gastronomic routes and nature tourism – hot springs, volcanoes and national parks are well explored.
– Puerto Escondido – Mexico
The Mexican city is a popular surfing destination and has been featured on Time with the Mexican Design Fair, new hotels and bars.
– Patagonia National Park – Chile
One of the main tourist attractions on the continent, the park was created less than three years ago on Chilean reserves. The fauna of condors, guanacos, pumas and deer were highlighted, as well as the 100% renewable energy used since September 2020.
– Mendoza – Argentina
The northwestern Argentine city is known for its wine production. In addition to the various wineries and Andean landscapes, such as the Aconcagua Provincial Park, gastronomy was also highlighted by the magazine.
– La Paz – Mexico
The Mexican city has as a positive point the seafront promenade, marine life and the deserted island of Espiritu Santo to visit.
– José Ignacio – Uruguay
Near Punta del Este, the city is an old fishing village that stands out for its accommodation options, bars and restaurants on the dunes of beaches.
– Costa Rica
With beaches, volcanoes and rainforests, the country is a common destination for American tourists. Time highlights the country’s environmental preservation efforts, which led to 53% of the territory being reforested. Practically almost all the energy in the country comes from renewable sources.
