The BCV board chaired by Calixto Ortega will present its arguments, on a date yet to be specified, before the London Court of Appeals, after receiving authorization to do so from Judge Sara Cockerill on September 12.
This magistrate of the Commercial Division of the Superior Court, who issued the ruling of July 29, authorized the appeal considering that, given the relevance of the case, it is interesting that a superior court analyze its conclusions, the Zaiwalla law firm said in a statement. & Co, representative of the Maduro side.
After a four-day trial that ended on July 18, Cockerill decided that he could not accept the judgments of the Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) that annulled Guaidó’s appointments to his “ad hoc” board of the Central Bank of Venezuela , finding no legal basis in the UK to do so.

Instead, Maduro’s camp maintains that the British Justice must respect the decisions of the foreign court and warns of the risk that the opposition leader accesses national assets without any type of supervision.
According to his statement issued this Tuesday, in another hearing on September 21, Cockerill rejected the request of Guaidó’s side to grant them an order that allows them material access to the reserves, considering the judge that at the moment there are not enough guarantees of a good management.

The British Supreme Court has already established that the Government of London only recognizes Guaidó, and not Maduro, as president of Venezuela (on an interim basis until democratic elections are held) and that, therefore, his acts and decisions must be considered sovereign .
However, the aforementioned point remains to be clarified as to whether the English courts should accept the sentences of the Venezuelan Justice that invalidate the decisions of the opposition leader, whom London sees as the only legitimate leader of the Latin American country.
