The 2025 budgets in the region contemplate it, and the executive urges Moncloa to clarify whether it will continue with the aid
The important reduction in transport rates Madrid public will continue in the region “if the central government maintains them.” This was clarified this Wednesday by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Rocío Albert, during the presentation of the regional budgets for 2025.
Season passes and tickets for ten trips in the Community of Madrid have enjoyed fare reductions of up to 60 percent for more than a year. This is the result of the anti-crisis measures implemented by the national government, and to which the autonomous community joined.
The initial discounts were 30 percent by the central government, which provided this figure if the regions agreed to join with another discount added to this 20 percent, to leave the final rates at half price. But Madrid went further and reduced rates by 30 percent, bringing the final savings to 60 percent.
But these discounts end at the end of the year, and no one has yet clarified what will happen from January 1. This Wednesday, the Minister of Economy announced that the Government of Madrid will maintain its reduction if the central Executive also does so. And he has asked La Moncloa to decide on this issue as soon as possible. In other years, it has not been known whether or not the central government maintained aid until the last days of the year.
