Today, French President Emmanuel Macron stressed the importance of the Gaza Strip being an integral part of the future State of Palestine.
During a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Macron called for an end to the war on the Gaza Strip, stressing his support for US President Joe Biden’s ceasefire initiative.
According to a statement by the French presidency, Macron stressed the importance of releasing those detained by Hamas, including the two French citizens, putting an end to the plight of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and delivering humanitarian aid on a large scale without further obstacles and in all possible ways.
Macron said that this agreement should open credible horizons for implementing the two-state solution, the only way that provides the necessary security guarantees for Israel and that responds to the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians.
The French President expressed his concern about the escalation of tensions on the border with Lebanon, calling for the exercise of maximum restraint and the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 1701 by all parties. He said that France will remain involved in this matter to prevent any risk of escalation on the Blue Line, and also to promote a diplomatic solution.
