Time passes inexorably and the 5 Star Movement is still blocked by the “feud” between Beppe Grillo and Giuseppe Conte: neither of them intends to give up an inch. Of course, there is still time, but the conviction of the bridge builders is that “if an agreement is not found within this week, it will be impossible to find it later”. In short, certain things are either done immediately or not done anymore.
The tension between the two and between their respective “factions” – very worried this morning from the reading from the interview by Nicola Piepoli where the birth of two micro parties is feared – is cut with a knife. In addition, there are mutual suspicions that one can give the other a scam or that Luigi Di Maio – often the most shrewd of all – in the end, after having tried the peacemaking attempt, will take back the party by setting up a triumvirate together with Fico and Raggi.
“Do you remember what happened during the government crisis?”, A loyal contian rhetorically asks. “There was an exploratory attempt that failed and then Conte was left with a palm of his hand because the assignment went to Mario Draghi”.
Here, the Contiani fear that this time too it will end in the same way as the never born Count Ter and they suspect that Grillo has set in motion the “seven wise men” for this very purpose: to certify the failure of the leadership of the former prime minister (and of his proposals for amendment of the statute) and then appoint others. Maybe that Di Maio who is receiving the most compliments from the “founding father” in the interlocutions of these days.
But there is more, because the echo of the last phone call, that of last week, between Elevato and Giuseppi has not yet subsided: Conte tried in vain to explain to Grillo, there are those who say in ” third person ”, that he“ has consent among the people ”and that“ everyone loves him ”.
The dream would have been to obtain the ownership of the symbol of the Movement. But the phone call, where the voice was raised, did not have the desired effect. Also because there is another fear that begins to wind from the base, up to the Genoese comedian: that behind Conte’s latest moves there are advice and suggestions from some major dem (one, in particular) who would like to transform the Five Stars in a rib of the Democratic Party to implement that “wide field” that we often hear about in the Nazarene.
For them, now “Conte must act quickly. Once the takeover bid on the Movement has failed, he must accelerate to create a new company and leave the bad company to Beppe Grillo… ”. The mantra is: “Now or never”. The “wide field” of the center-left cannot wait. With all due respect to the elevated founder.
