Former president says former vice questioned PIB about resistance to his name
Former PT president and candidate for the Planalto Palace Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said this Tuesday (27.Sep.2022) that his former deputy, José Alencargave “scolding” in entrepreneurs.
Alencar, an industrialist from Minas Gerais, was Lula’s deputy in his 2 terms at the head of the Planalto Palace. The alliance was important for PT to get votes from outside the left in 2002.
“With the arrival of José Alencar, we managed to open an important fan. Even Mário Amato never said again that he was going to flee Brazil”said Lula.
Mário Amato was president of Fiesp (Federation of Industry of the State of São Paulo) in 1989, in Lula’s 1st presidential election. He said that businessmen would leave the country if PT won.
“Zé Alencar really scolded businessmen. He got tired of saying ‘I have 17,000 employees, I’m not afraid of Lula, I’m his deputy, why are you afraid of Lula?’ He was really tough on managers, and the guys didn’t get much of an answer.”declared Lula.
The PT spoke at a campaign event in São Paulo, when he received the support of former ministers of the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso.
PT tries to broaden its arc of support outside the left to obtain the votes needed to win the election in the 1st round. The main opponent is the current president, Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
