The president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) met this Wednesday afternoon (11.jan.2023) with the governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans), at the Planalto Palace, in Brasília.
Tarcísio’s team stated that the governor discussed with Lula the benefits of the concession of the port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, based on the planned investments, such as the construction of a tunnel between Santos and Guarujá, in addition to federal transfers for the health of the State .
The new Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França (PSB), is critical of the privatization of the port. “The port authority will remain state-owned. What we do is grant areas within the port”, said the former governor of SP, in December last year.
Ministers Alexandre Padilha (Secretary of Institutional Relations of the Presidency of the Republic) and Rui Costa (Casa Civil), and the Secretary of Government and Institutional Relations of São Paulo, Gilberto Kassab (PSD).
After the meeting, Lula published a photo with Tarcísio on his social networks. In the caption, she wrote: “I spoke today with the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas. In the campaign, I said that I would respect and work with all governors, for the good of Brazil. That’s what we’re doing”.
The message may be an allusion to the name of the former president’s coalition Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in last year’s campaign: for the good of Brazil (PL, PP and republicans). Tarcísio was Bolsonaro’s minister and had his support in the dispute for Palácio dos Bandeirantes.
