The deployment of nuclear arsenals in Poland poses a danger to Belarus, such an agreement was reached long ago between Warsaw and Washington. This was announced on October 6 by President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the government, an excerpt from the meeting was shown by the TV channel STV.
As Lukashenka recalled, the President of Poland announced the agreement reached on October 5.
“They have long agreed with the Americans that the arsenals will be in Poland. What does it say? That we are really facing an attack with tactical nuclear weapons,” the Belarusian leader noted.
In his opinion, measures must be taken, because Minsk does not have such weapons. Lukashenka also stressed that he discussed the possible deployment of nuclear weapons in Poland with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The day before, Polish leader Andrzej Duda reminded that the deployment of US nuclear weapons in Poland is an open topic. According to him, the lack of such weapons in the country remains a problem.
Poland could take part in the Nuclear Sharing program, under which European NATO member states host and store American nuclear weapons, Duda concluded.
In turn, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Dmitry Belik, said in an interview with Izvestia that the deployment of nuclear weapons in Poland would be a reckless step, to which Russia would be forced to “respond accordingly.”
On September 28, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau said that NATO countries should respond to the “threat of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons” with a destructive, but not nuclear, strike.
The topic of the use of nuclear weapons in the conflict in Ukraine is being discussed by Western media and politicians. Thus, on September 25, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that Washington has a plan in case Russia hypothetically uses nuclear weapons. He said that any use of it would be disastrous for the country using it and for many others.
The Russian side has repeatedly noted that American experts need to study Russia’s nuclear doctrine more carefully before frightening them through the media with a response to a possible strike.
On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the West had crossed every line in its anti-Russian policy, as well as in constant threats against Moscow. The head of state warned those trying to threaten with nuclear weapons that “the wind rose can turn in their direction,” adding that the Russian Federation is using all means to protect the country and the Russian people.
