Tigres has not had the desired performance during the Grita México 2021 League MX tournament. The UANL team is in fifth position in the general classification after reaping four victories, six draws and two defeats. The Monterrey team has had ups and downs throughout the season, but continues to seek to improve its position in the table.
The university students have had several casualties due to injury throughout the competition. One of the most important has been that of André Pierre Gignac, the all-time top scorer for Tigres. The 35-year-old French forward has missed much of the tournament. In this journey, the UANL team has had to overcome the absence of its best player and his reference in the attack.
Tigres have left their dependence on Gignac behind and have found new ways to score goals. Luis Quiñones, winger of the royal team, spoke about the situation of the French and his role in the squad. “Recovering André gives us an extra bonus. He is a player of hierarchy. We are a team that can no longer depend on a single man. We have players capable of contributing to this team when required,” added the Colombian forward.
“We are a team that plays collectively. We all have to find our highest level to be a complete team and not depend on a single player,” said Luis Quiñones.
For matchday 13, Tigres will visit Cruz Azul at the Azteca Stadium on Saturday, October 16. This duel looks to be a difficult test for the felines. “He is a direct and difficult rival. In his stadium they become strong. They make you play a different game, it is like a final,” says the Colombian forward.
