The Colombian Luis Javier Mosquera began his new Olympic cycle at the Bolivarian Games of Valledupar 2022, thinking of hanging a medal again in Paris 2024.
Mosquera already achieved bronze in Rio 2016, a medal he received three years later for the disqualification of Izzat Artykov, from Kyrgyzstan, for failing a doping test. And in Tokyo 2020 he climbed one more step, getting the silver medal.

Mosquera changed category for the Bolivarians
Now, Mosquera, 27, has changed categories and climbed from 67 kilograms, in which he won silver last year, to 73. And in his first Olympic cycle tournament, in Valledupar, he won two silvers, in snatch and clean and jerk. It should be remembered that in Bolivarianos no medal is awarded in the total.
However, in one of his attempts to improve his mark, Mosquera suffered an injury to his right hand, which did not allow him to finish the competition.

Mosquera could not receive his medals
Mosquera was immediately transferred to a hospital in Valledupar to determine the extent of his injury and was not even able to get on the podium to receive his medals.
