‘Enhanced Reality Glasses’ for everyone. This is the wish of Luis Enrique and his family. The national coach has once again shown his more supportive side through a publication on his Twitter account in which he encourages his followers to buy these special glasses.
The project, which aims to reform and expand the Children’s Oncology Area of the Vall d’Hebron Hospital, is sponsored by the ‘Albert Bosch’, ‘Aladina’ and ‘Small’ foundations.
It is about helping to raise the six million euros that the reform and expansion work of the Children’s Oncology Area of the Vall d’Hebron Hospital would cost.
To do this, the initiative calls for the purchase of cardboard glasses designed and decorated by hospital children that would allow them to improve their conditions while they are treated for their illness. ‘Childhood cancer is a reality. But we can improve it ‘, is the motto.
Some of the well-known faces that have already joined the project are Eugenia Silva, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera or Andrés Iniesta himself.
Always supportive
A few days ago ‘Lucho’ gave all his support to ALS patients by recommending the book written by his former partner and friend Juan Carlos Unzué, ‘A full life’, also through his Twitter account.
On the same platform, this past Saturday he and his family (Helena, Sira and Pacho) have done the same with children with cancer, a disease that affected them very directly.
More than two years without Xana
In August 2019 the tragedy struck Luis Enrique. The young daughter of the current coach of the Spanish soccer team, Xana, lost her life when she was only nine years old due to bone cancer, which she faced for five months. That was a great blow that shook the entire family of the former Barça player and coach. The coach left his position as coach and focused on his wife, the economist Elena Cullel and a member of the Catalan bourgeoisie, and his other two children, Pacho and Sira.
The terrible disease that took the little girl is called osteosarcoma: one of the eight types of primary malignant tumors of the bone that exist, as explained on the website of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM).
More than two years later, the pain of the family has been transformed into commitment and solidarity in the fight against cancer and supporting children. A fact that shows that the strength and integrity of ‘Lucho’ go hand in hand with his talent on the bench.
