The Mexican team has just received very bad news. Their starting goalkeeper, Luis Ángel Malagón, is out for the 2024 Copa América.
The Águilas del América goalkeeper suffered a muscle injury during training before traveling to College Station, according to several reports.
According to the information, Malagón underwent some studies after the practice carried out prior to the friendly match against his counterpart from Brazil. Upon discovering that he is not at 100 percent, it was decided to consider him as a member of the selective team.
The goalkeeper would be out for three to four weeks. Although he could play, if he recovers quickly, in the final phase of the Cup, he is considered absent and therefore, Jaime Lozano and company will have to find a replacement.
According to reports, there are two names on the table: Guillermo Ochoa and Carlos Acevedo. Both already have experience in the national team and one of them is a history of the same.
However, so far there is no confirmation of said replacement. On the list are ‘Tala’ Rangel from Chivas and Julio González, from Pumas. The first comes from receiving four goals against Uruguay and leaving many negative comments on social networks.
