80% of the fans in Valencia were on Rossi’s side
One of the latest episodes of the podcast ‘Mig Babol’ had as a guest Valentino Rossi and the embers were once again ‘rekindled’ regarding the 2015 season, won by Jorge Lorenzo in Valencia in the final act at the end of unedifying vicissitudes for the protagonists (in this case Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez and Dorna, certainly not Jorge Lorenzo). Carmelo Ezpeleta didn’t like this ‘flashback’ and almost 10 years later there was also some criticism of Valentino Rossi for his careless management of a situation that had already become sufficiently exasperated during the year.
Jorge Lorenzo he couldn’t avoid a quick leap back in time during the show ‘Dura la Vida’ broadcast on Youtube which sees him as the protagonist together with Ramon Forcada, Ricard Jové, Ramon Forcada, Ruben Xaus and other guests.
“In Valencia when Marquez and I arrived at Parc Fermé, 80% of the fans booed us because they were cheering for Rossi – explained Lorenzo – the fans were very divided, I would say there was the football hatred that exists between Barcelona and Real Madrid. When you entered the paddock you could feel it, it’s certainly not like now where you don’t feel great rivalry between the riders. Even hours after the end of the race while I was at the circuit celebrating with my family there were still 50 fans outside the gates insulting my mother claiming that I had stolen the title. It’s the title I’m most proud of. I wasn’t leading the championship in any race until the last one. I suffered and fought until the end because I had a lot of bad luck that year. But I didn’t throw in the towel.”. In that season Lorenzo achieved seven victories compared to the four of Valentino Rossi, who took advantage of several ‘assists’ arriving from the weather to overturn weekends that seemed clearly in Lorenzo’s favor (those at Silverstone and Misano in particular).
