The Murcian president defends the “honorability” of his Madrid counterpart, although he sees the actions of the PP’s national leadership against her as correct
The president of the Community and the PP of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, spoke for the first time this Friday about the crisis unleashed in the popular formation by the open war between Pablo Casado and Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
He did it at an event held in El Valle, in Murcia. And despite the fact that he positioned himself in favor of the national direction of Genoa, he avoided attacking his Madrid counterpart, of whom he defended his “honorability”, questioned by the alleged commission that his brother charged from a company benefited from a public contract in the Community of Madrid. “I am convinced of the honorability of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, but I think that Genoa’s performance has been correct,” Miras insisted.
The head of the regional Executive lamented the image that the PP gives these days and understands the “disappointment” that militants, supporters and voters may suffer at this time. That is why he appealed to solve the crisis as soon as possible because “the PP is essential for the future of this country, the only alternative to Pedro Sánchez, and what the Spaniards demand of us more than ever is unity to respond to their needs.” We have to be strong, united and focused on what is important.” he stated he.
Likewise, he defended the general secretary of the PP, Teodoro García Egea, whose continuity in office is being questioned. He confirmed that he is not among the regional barons who have asked Casado for his head, according to ‘El Confidencial’, and defended that for the Region of Murcia “it is a pride that Teodoro García Egea is secretary general of the Popular Party.” He admitted that the countryman and friend of his develops “a thankless job, almost never recognized”, although he assured that he knows that all his work seeks “the best for the Popular Party.
On the other hand, Miras ruled out that this internal battle will be transferred to the PP of the Region. “I don’t see why you have to move here,” he said. In his opinion, the Murcian PP is “united, that has things clear.” «No one likes this situation, what we have to do is focus on what is important, show the unity of this party as the only project that can dislodge sanchismo from Moncloa. Now we have to redouble our efforts to show that this party is the same as always, the one that brought Spain out of ruin on two occasions,” the president reiterated.
