The president of the Region of Murcia has made these statements before the Conference of Presidents begins in La Palma
The president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, demands that the Central Government reduce VAT as a measure to deal with the rise in inflation: «VAT must be reduced to the super-reduced rate, of course for electricity, but also for many basic products that are being inaccessible for many families due to inflation”, López Miras demanded in a statement prior to his participation in the XXVI Conference of Presidents, which is being held this Sunday in La Palma.
He considers these fiscal measures “essential” to also face the “crisis that the war in Ukraine is going to generate in Spain”: “I think that a joint position of the autonomous communities with the Government of Spain has to come from here.” López Miras has described the invasion of Russia as “inhuman, cruel and illegal”.
The leader of the Community considers that “a coordinated plan” must come out of this meeting and that “an extraordinary budgetary fund for the autonomous communities must be articulated without further delay, so that we can welcome all the refugees that are necessary.” The president of the Region has highlighted that the meeting cannot remain “a mere declaration of intent and a photo in La Palma, which I think is positive because we have to support all those who have had a bad time these months as a result of the volcano, but I think we are in a critical situation for Spain and for the European Union, and therefore we have to make decisions, agreements, actions and measures».
