Sultan Al Ali (Dubai)
Al Wahda’s crowning of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup title, at the expense of Al Ain, 1-0, in the final match, carries many meanings for “excellences” at all levels.
The title represents the return of happiness to Al-Anabi, after a 6-year absence from titles, and it is the second longest absence for the team between two championships, after the period from 1986 to 1994, during which it completed 8 years.
Al-Wahda’s last championship dates back to the 2018-2019 season in the Super Cup and against Al-Ain as well, where the two teams tied 3-3 in a match that witnessed Al-Ain’s comeback, after falling behind 3-0, but “Al-Anabi” won it on penalties and won the title, and therefore the title represents the end of the drought seasons. For “Excellencies”, and a starting point for returning to the path of achievements to which he is accustomed.
The championship entered the coffers of “Al-Annabi”, becoming number 16 in the historical record of “The Excellencies”, which occupies fifth place historically, and in turn reduced the gap between it and Al-Nasr, which has 19 championships in its history.
