Lombardy, videos and photos online: 4 arrests for child pornography
At the end of an articulated and complex judicial police operation aimed at fighting online child pornography, the investigators of the Postal and Communications Police of Milan searched 7 subjects – all in the Lombardy region – drawing from arrest 4 for the crime of detention of a large quantity of pornographic material made through the exploitation of minors.
The investigation, coordinated by Postal and Communications Police Service of Rome (National Center for the Contrast of Online Child Pornography) and led by Public Prosecutor at the Court of Milan, started from the analysis of the computer material seized as part of an investigation conducted in recent months by the Milanese Postal Police, which revealed an intense exchange of child pornography material, to the extent of over 100 videos and photos depicting children of ages between 2 and 12 years – as well as, in some cases, newborns – involved in sexual acts with adults, with other minors and, sometimes, even with animals. The material was disseminated online, through the best known app instant messaging.
For the achievement of the important investigative result – which involved the overcoming, by the investigators of the Milanese Postale, of complex anonymization techniques adopted by the suspects to escape justice – the international collaboration activity was of fundamental importance, aimed at obtaining important computer traces from the collateral foreign investigative bodies, useful for the identification of the suspects.
Among the subjects drawn from the provisions of the AG there are people from very different social backgrounds: they range from a student just of age to a distinguished sixty year old employed in a well-known telecommunications company.
Thanks to the specialized technical investigations carried out on the spot, the investigators also discovered that one of the arrested had made and shared on the network videos depicting sexual abuse of a young sister, who is also suffering from a serious disability.
The personal, local and computer system searches, issued by the Milan District Prosecutor’s Office, led to the seizure of mobile phones, tablets, hard disks, pen drives, computers and email accounts, cloud spaces and social profiles. During the operation, a large quantity of illicit material was also found stored on the computer media subjected to seizure.
This is the umpteenth activity carried out by the Postal Police which, it must be remembered, continuously monitors the entire Internet network to protect minors and all vulnerable groups.
The prevention and contrast to the phenomenon of sexual exploitation of minors on the net see the Postal Police at the forefront. For this reason, it is of fundamental importance for all users to report any illegal content found on the web, by contacting the Postal and Communications Police Service and through the PS Online Commissariat (www.commissariatodips.it) – where guidelines and useful suggestions are proposed to contain the risks present on the network – both through the Departments and the Postal Police Sections present throughout the national territory.
