Covid, mandatory vaccination for all difficult road due to the management of sanctions
The Prime Minister Mario Draghi, during last night’s press conference to illustrate the contents of the new decree which introduces the so-called Super Green Pass, he tried in every way to reassure the Italians. And he couldn’t do otherwise. Also and above all because the Christmas period is particularly important for the national economy and for the tourism (the winter and snow one was literally massacred last year by the Conte government).
But politics is already wondering what could happen after January 15, 2022. Draghi said that the provision unanimously taken yesterday by the Council of Ministers is “extendable“and therefore, in fact, he has already put his hands forward. In Parliament, among the deputies of the majority (not Lega), there is a widespread belief that where after theepiphany the situation has clearly worsened and similar to that of Germany and Austria (in terms of infections, victims and employment of intensive care), the executive can only adopt drastic measures.
The road, in the worst scenario that no one hopes for but many fear, is marked. Government sources tend to exclude that it can go towards the compulsory vaccination for everyone, not so much for the fear of unconstitutionality (Palazzo Chigi would have received reassurances to this effect and in any case the obligation already exists for several categories) but for the real chaos that would arise on the management of sanctions. Coercion and forced vaccination are impossible, it would become extremely difficult to understand how to move towards those who still would not want to be vaccinated despite the obligation by law.
So what? If after January 6 the situation were serious and serious, the executive would have only one way to go: generalized lockdown for everyone and for the whole country of at least three or four weeks. A decision that the premier would not want to take, but which he would inevitably be forced to take. A kind of national red zone with the probable closure of bars, restaurants and non-essential shops at 6 pm, the total closure of gyms, swimming pools, theaters, cinemas, ski slopes and the return of the much feared curfew at 10pm (or 9pm). It is also possible to resort to self-certification to leave the house.
Question mark on schools, because bringing pupils and students back to dad would be the total failure of the executive’s action of broad agreements and of the vaccination campaign. Draghi reassures the Italians, but politics knows that the worst scenario is already being evaluated. And it is ready to act. Obtorto neck.
