We take you inside Afghanistan through the testimony of Mattia Sorbi who yesterday, Thursday 26 August, arrived in Kabul to tell about TPI what is happening in the hours following the dramatic attack claimed by Isis which caused more than 170 deaths and over 150 injuries.
In conversation with the director of TPI Giulio Gambino, available here and also visible below, Sorbi recounted both the moments in which the explosion occurred and the hours following the attack, also revealing the concerns and legitimate fears of the population, but also of the journalists present on the ground.
Furthermore, Mattia Sorbi today had the opportunity to converse with the Taliban assigned to the checkpoint of the Italian Embassy in Kabul, as shown by these exclusive photos.
The area where the Italian embassy was located, in fact, is now under the control of the Taliban, who control the area through a check point.
Here, the Taliban use an air-conditioned hangar where they usually have lunch. They eat bread, rice, raisins and meat (except pork). This dish is called Plov, one of the traditional Afghan dishes.
