Escape routes have been opened for residents of five besieged Ukrainian cities, Russia’s defense ministry said. These are Kiev, Kharkiv, Mariupol, Sumy and Chernigov. A ceasefire should allow the use of the humanitarian corridors. Ukrainian authorities later reported that evacuations had indeed begun from Sumy and Irpin on the northwestern outskirts of Kiev. In the Netherlands, the emergency shelter for Ukrainian refugees in Harskamp is now full and newcomers have to report elsewhere.
