Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, the Abu Dhabi Group for Culture and Arts announced the cultural program for the “Literature and Book Corridor” initiative. This initiative aims to enhance the sustainability of knowledge, embrace writers, support authors and creators, and stimulate the book, authorship and publishing industry, within Activities of the thirty-third session of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which concludes its activities today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Hoda Ibrahim Al Khamis, founder of the Abu Dhabi Group for Culture and Arts, said that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair in its thirty-third session reflects Abu Dhabi’s determination to pioneer the publishing and book industry in the Arab world, and consolidates the capital’s position as an authentic center for Arab knowledge content, restoring the influential role of Arabs in the context of human civilization.
She said: “The book industry reflects the renaissance of nations and the growth of their culture, and is concerned with creating minds and building people. We attach great importance to the accumulation of knowledge and empowering the publishing, writing and translation industries, because of the communication of ideas and creative effort of writers and authors and the professionalism of publishers.”
An ancient experience
Under the title “We are formed from air, water, and sand,” the Literature and Book Corridor Initiative celebrated the literary achievement and ancient creative experience of the Sheikh of Emirati novelists, the writer Ali Abu Al-Rish. The activities of the cultural program of the Literature and Book Corridor Initiative are being held in its ninth year, including 8 literary and intellectual publications, 5 dialogue seminars, and parties. Book signings, with the participation of more than 20 novelists, poets and writers from the Emirates and the Arab world. The initiative also celebrates the late Emirati poets Ahmed Rashid Thani and the Lebanese Onsi Al-Hajj, through the issuance of my books “Cage of Waves: Ahmed Rashid Thani’s Essays on Meaning and Existence,” and “Rose of Gold: Selections.” “Lansi Al-Hajj”, in honor of their role and renewed thought in pioneering the Arabic prose poem and documenting its aesthetics in the Emirati and Arab space.
