FC Barcelona teamed up with the American company Pantone in order to create a unique color to commemorate International Women’s Day. Mixing their characteristic blue and scarlet red, Barcelona launched the ‘Lila Barça’, which was mainly advertised by the women’s soccer team.
With a video, which is part of the ‘Equality is in our colors’ campaign, the club sought to make an analogy between the journey that the Barcelona players have had, with the colors of the shield and the constant struggle of women.

This represents it Alexia Putellas, who appears on screen to represent the voice of all women who fight for equality.
‘Lila Barça’ will also be the protagonist in the events that the club will hold in March, especially those that commemorate International Women’s Day. Likewise, associated brands such as Nike, Spotify, Bimbo, Cupra, Damm, Whitebit, Allianz, BMG, GLS and Scotiabank will join the initiative, showing the new Pantone shade in their advertisements published in stadiums and fields.
In addition, in the match in which the Barcelona men’s team will face Valencia CF and the women’s first team will play against Villarreal Femenino, this characteristic purple can be seen on the pitch screens. These meetings are scheduled for Sunday March 12.
A journey full of triumphs
According to a statement published on the official FC Barcelona website, this initiative also seeks to show that its women’s team is one of the most important reference points “on the path towards equality in society and in the world of football.”
The team has led numerous initiatives to promote equality, such as when the soccer player Lucy Bronze met with a group of refugee girls of Afghan, Honduran and Ukrainian origin, at the Joan Gamper Sports City.
According to the official website, there she was able to learn first-hand the stories of these girls and their families who currently live in Barcelona and share a space full of “games and fun”.
(We recommend: “They ruined my life”: they filter Clara Chía’s reaction in chaos Shakira-Piqué).
Likewise, they ensured that the team “continuously works to promote the role of women in the world of sport, with a job focused on advancing towards equality and promoting the role of women in the sports field“.
