The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports, through the Camino Lebaniego Foundation, participates this weekend in the I edition of the ‘AR-PA Cultural Tourism’ fair which is held in pavilion 4 of the Valladolid Fair, and which coincides with the International Inland Tourism Fair (INTUR).
The general director of Culture, Eva Guillermina Fernández, participated this Friday, together with the director of the Santa María de Toraya Foundation, Lidia Quevedo, in one of the forums of the International Congress of AR-PA, in which she presented two of cultural tourism projects linked to historical and religious heritage in the region, as reported by the Executive in a press release.
PILGRIMAGE
Thus, he has exposed the ‘Paths that unite us’ projectwhich seeks to revalue pilgrimage routes with the use of the possibilities provided by music and heritage; and ‘Hidden murals’a collaborative initiative between the Santa María de Toraya Foundation and the Camino Lebaniego Foundation with the aim of conserving, restoring and giving visibility to the mural paintings of the religious architectural heritage of the Liébana Region that have remained hidden for centuries.
On the other hand, the highest political authorities of Castilla y León, including the president of the Autonomous Community, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco; The Minister of Culture, Gonzalo Santoja, and the Minister of Industry, Leticia García, have come to the Camino Lebaniego Foundation stand and have seen these cultural proposals first-hand.
LEBANIEGOS ROADS
In addition to these projects, the Foundation space shows the exhibition ‘Windows of the Lebaniego Road’a visual diary by the emerging Santander artist Lucía Moure that compiles the “most iconic” enclaves and the “most unknown” corners of the Camino. You can also enjoy a facsimile of the Blessed of Gerona belonging to the permanent collection ‘Beato de Liébana and his blesseds’from the Torre del Infantado de Potes.
Finally, throughout the weekend, the Camino Lebaniego Foundation organizes family workshops on tempera painting, manuscript illumination and paleography inspired by the figure of Beato de Liébana and his blesseds.
