After having an initial scare, Palmeiras counted on Rafael Navarro’s eye for goal to thrash Independiente Petrolero (Bolivia) 8-1, on Tuesday night (12) at Allianz Parque, to remain at the top of the classification of the Group A of the Copa Libertadores with six points.

Despite the positive result at the end, the reigning champion of the continental competition got a scare after just five minutes, when Cristaldo played for José Correa, who, at first, took it with great skill to score a goal, with no chance for goalkeeper Weverton.
From then on, Verdão left with everything in search of an equalizer, and he came only in the 40th minute, when Jorge crossed, the defense partially pushed away and Zé Rafael took strong from the entrance of the area to overcome Arancibia.
If in the initial stage the Bolivians still tried to equalize the confrontation, in the second half Rafael Navarro showed that he has his sights on target to lead Palmeiras to victory. The shirt 29 started to shine in the first minute, when he scored with a header after a good move by Breno Lopes.
Seven minutes later the play started with Jorge, and Gómez still headed in before Rafael Navarro finished with a left to widen. But shirt 29 wanted more, and he got it at 11, when Gabriel Veron’s cross was finalized.
Three minutes later, shirt 29 scored another one, his fourth in the match, when he took advantage of a low cross from Mayke. With this goal Navarro took over the isolated artillery of Libertadores with 6 goals.

After scoring so many goals, Navarro appeared in the role of waiter, playing for Ron to leave his head in the 34th minute. However, Palmeiras’ most constant player was still missing, midfielder Raphael Veiga, who scored first in the 40th minute with a beautiful kick, and then in the 45th minute with a free kick.
After playing for the continental competition, Palmeiras returns to the field on Saturday (16), against Goiás at Serrinha stadium. For Libertadores, the next match is against Emelec (Ecuador).
