Liam Payne, former member of One Direction, dies at age 31 after falling from a third floor in Buenos Aires

«Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, and former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo [barrio de Buenos Aires]», the Police have reported.

The musician had “very serious injuries “incompatible with life as a result of his fall, that is, we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation,” the head of the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME), Alberto Crescenti, said in television statements. “According to what the team saw, he apparently had a skull base fracture, a very serious injury,” he explained in his statements.

He has also reported that the emergency service went to the Casa Sur hotel in the Palermo neighborhood following two calls to the public security number 911. One was recorded at 5:04 p.m. local time (8:04 p.m. in Madrid). In the first call, published in the Argentine newspaper ‘Clarín’, a lodging employee asks for help to control the situation: “We have a guest who is over the top with drugs and is breaking up the entire room. “We need someone to come.”

In the second call, collected by the same means, the employee warns the emergency services that “the room has a balcony” and that they were afraid “that something could be done.” A few minutes later, a medical team went to the scene and “verified the death” of the artist, according to his spokesperson.

A series of photographs are circulating in Argentine media and social networks that a person with access would have taken of the state of the hotel room in which Payne was staying. They show destruction and what appear to be drug remains, as well as objects used in their administration.

On October 2, Payne had attended a concert of his former bandmate Niall Horan in Buenos Aires, according to ‘Billboard’ magazine.
