This Saturday one of the most anticipated announcements by the small municipalities that sought to be part of the network of The Most Beautiful Towns in Spain took place. Those six that have met all the requirements have been announced plus a seventh with whom it is expected to recover the essence of one of the places most punished by DANA in Albacete.
The decision to add Letur to this list seeks to promote the recovery of the place. The general association was the one that put this idea on the table and the president of the Association was the one who offered Letur the possibility of being included in the Most Beautiful Towns to help the recovery of its cultural and natural heritage in the following years.
This week, according to the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Letur’s three-year reconstruction plan will have to be announced. Outside the Community of Valencia, this municipality of Albacete was one of the most affected by DANA on October 29, which took the lives of 6 people.
The human losses were known almost from the first moment, but what was not yet known was the extent of the material damage. A report written after the tragedy occurred and reconstruction work began has determined that in Letur there are a total of 68 structures affected by the overflow of the stream. 63 correspond to homes or residential buildings. Of the other 5, two are industrial buildings, one infrastructure and two official buildings.
With the entry of Letur to the network, The Association will provide the municipality with a platform for national and international projection, in addition to resources and technical advice. to promote the reconstruction of the place.
“We want Letur to recover its heritage and its essence. Through our network, we will make this unique corner of Spain shine again as it deserves,” stressed the president of the Association at last Saturday’s event.
The reconstruction of Letur
This is one more step towards the reconstruction of the town. Emergency work is already being carried out to recover the municipality after the tragedy. The works have been estimated at a budget of 1,976,000 euros.
The president of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS), Mario Urrea, has emphasized the need to declare an emergency for these actions to “carry out the immediate repair of damage caused to property owned by the General Administration of the State“.
