“Let’s Cyber Game”, the national competition promoted by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (Mimit) with the support of Cyber 4.0 and Invitaliahas registered the victory of the projects “Shard Tower” by ITS Academy Lazio Digital, “Alcadata” by Fondazione ITS Apulia Digital Maker and “Bean Team” by Fondazione ITS Rossellini. Around 150 students from 22 Italian ITS Academies in the ICT field were involved in the various phases of the competition, with theobjective of designing, developing and creating educational video games on cybersecurity. Video games had the ultimate goal of becoming educational tools to raise awareness among young people about cybersecurity and the fight against cybercrime. The finalist projects used different game modes, including puzzle-solving, role-playing games (RPGs) and cyber attack simulations, to convey the importance of responsible use of the Internet.
The ten finalists were selected by a commission of Mimit e experts awarded during the inaugural day of FORUM PA 2024. Eva Spina, Head of the Department for Digital, Connectivity and New Technologies at Mimit, presented the prizes to the winners.
The Winning Projects
Shard Tower – ITS Academy Lazio Digital
Alcadata – ITS Apulia Digital Maker Foundation
BeanTeam – ITS Rossellini Foundation
To the first place went to the kids from the ITS Academy Lazio Digital in Rome with Shard Tower to whom 15,000 euros will go and who will be offered participation in sector events such as the GamesCom in Cologne or the Games Week in Milan together with a purchase voucher for tech material/computer equipment for gaming.
The second place, the ITS Apulia Digital Maker Foundation of Foggia will receive 10,000 euros, participation in the Games Week in Milan and a voucher for tech material/computer equipment for gaming.
On the lowest step of the podium was the ITS Rossellini Foundation of Rome who will receive 5,000 euros and a purchase voucher for tech material/computer equipment for gaming.
During the awards ceremony, Eva Spina and Matteo Lucchetti, director of the Competence Center Cyber 4.0, underlined the importance of collaboration between young people and institutions for the development of innovative ideas in the digital and cybersecurity fieldspresenting the contest as “a challenge to relaunch, together and thanks to young people, the development of innovative ideas for Industry 4.0, social inclusion and safe digital transition”, reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to promoting the culture of technical-scientific innovation, enhancing youth skills for digital, also through gaming.
