WEC CEO Frédéric Lequien revealed this after numerous comments made by Jim Glickenhaus, who would like to race with only a reduced schedule for his 007 LMH in 2022.
“If he wants to race at Le Mans, he has to do it with at least one car busy all season, that’s very clear,” Lequin told Motorsport.com.
“We don’t want to sound pretentious, but we are an FIA World Championship, which means we have to follow rules. It’s fair to other competitors too.”
Lequien also explained that any second Glickenhaus entries for the WEC rounds or Le Mans would still have to be evaluated by the relevant selection committees.
“It is clear that this could be possible, but the team must have a car at the start of all the races. At the same time, I was very sad not to see them at the start of all the events this year.”
Jim Glickenhaus himself, however, reiterated that he does not intend to do all the races, as happened in 2021.
“Our goal is to be in Sebring and Spa before Le Mans and definitely have two cars in the 24 Hours – he told Motorsport.com – We would like to go to Monza after Le Mans and continue racing in the WEC, but what happens will depend. from the Balance of Performance. If we get the right BoP we will work with our partners and sponsors to try to make the rest of the championship. “
Finally, Lequin reiterated that registration will not be guaranteed to everyone, given that a flood of new cars from the various manufacturers will arrive.
“It will have to be evaluated, but it is very difficult for everyone to find space, we cannot satisfy them regardless and I have already mentioned this”.
