After two and a half months of vacation, the princess begins her final year of high school at UWC Atlantic College
After two and a half months of vacation in Spain, the eldest daughter of the King and Queen has headed to Wales to face the second year of high school at the UWC Atlantic College. Without a doubt, this will be a definitive and intense year for her, as it is the one before university and the last one she will spend abroad. Since her return on June 17, she has combined several official acts with public appearances off the agenda, and just over a year after coming of age, she is gaining relevance within the Royal Family.
The eldest daughter of the King and Queen shone with her own light at the delivery of the Princess of Girona awards. For the occasion she chose an authentic princess look. A ‘royal’ blue dress, with a bateau neckline and ‘A’ line skirt. The four together also traveled to Santiago de Compostela to participate in the offering to the apostle. In a more relaxed facet, we have been able to see Leonor in several appearances outside the official agenda in Mallorca. The first was a dinner outing together with the Kings, Queen Sofia, her sister, and Princess Irene of Greece. The second was an unprecedented “girls” night, which left a photograph to remember, in which queens Sofía and Letizia, she and her sister went out to dinner at a well-known restaurant on the island. Her last appearance was a family walk through the streets of the center of Palma. Like last year, the official agenda will now be relegated to the background to continue with their school obligations and will be limited to the stipulated vacation days at the Welsh boarding school.
According to the official calendar, the princess will finish classes on May 20, and until then she will have three vacation breaks, the first is from October 28 to November 6, what they call the ‘October Break’. This will allow her to be present at the celebration of the Princess of Asturias Awards scheduled for that same day and at the celebration of her 17th birthday on the 31st.
Farewells and reunions
The return to class will separate Leonor from her sister, the Infanta Sofía. Last year we saw them melt into a tender farewell hug at the entrance of the Madrid airport. During these two months, both have been more united than ever and together they have visited the Dalí museum in Girona and have traveled to London to support the women’s soccer team. Sofía begins this September the fourth year of ESO at the Santa María de los Rosales private school. For her, this will also be a definitive academic year, since she will have to decide if next year she wants to continue studying in Spain or if, on the contrary, she prefers to follow in the footsteps of her older sister and study abroad.
On her return to Wales, the princess will not be reunited with her mysterious friend. During her Easter holidays, Leonor visited Spain accompanied by a dark-haired boy, taller than her, with a beard, and dressed in a sweatshirt that had the logo of the same school printed on it as the eldest daughter of the Kings, the UWC. Atlantic College. The boy was photographed with the rest of the royal family when they attended the birthday celebration of Leonor’s maternal grandmother, Paloma Rocasolano. Different sources pointed out that it could be Leonor’s boyfriend, and it transpired that he did not speak Spanish and that despite the fact that he was in a higher grade than the princess, both were inseparable at boarding school. The one she will meet again is Alexia from Holland, the daughter of Guillermo and Máxima, who started high school last year, just like her.
