Lenovo presented the new Legion Blade 7000K SE desktops with mobile processors, here are the configurations
As we anticipated a few weeks ago, Lenovo has officially presented the new range of desktop PCs Legion Blade 7000K SE with Intel HX series processors, developed for the high-end laptop market, and officially enters the “Mobile on Desktop” segment.
An interesting choice that entails some advantages and as many disadvantages. Here are all the details.
Laptop processors in a gaming desktop
Lenovo Legion Blade 7000K SE officially enters the Blade 7000K range with a new suffix, which stands for Super Edition, and with a particular configuration that brings the 13th and 14th generation Intel processors of the HX series.
Lenovo therefore officially enters the MoDT (Mobile on Desktop) segment which involves the adoption of processors developed for laptops in desktop configurations.
The new configurations therefore use Raptor Lake processors and in particular the Intel Core i9-14900HX, Intel Core i7-14650HX and Intel Core 17-13650HX models, accompanied by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super, RTX 4060 Ti Super and RTX 4060 graphics cards and three 16″ RAM cuts, 24 and 32 GB DDR5.
It costs less, but…
As we anticipated a few weeks before the official announcement, the MoDT approach provides the use of mobile processors in desktop systems: in this way it is possible to contain costs and at the same time you can take advantage of the greater stability of laptop CPUs, while still maintaining performance which, although lower than its desktop counterparts, can withstand heavy workloads for a good number of years.
The main disadvantage, however, is that the processors are soldered directly onto the motherboard and, just like in a regular laptop, you can’t upgrade the individual processor. While the initial cost could therefore be convenient, this particular configuration is penalized from the point of view of longevity. At the moment, however, it is not clear whether this type of product will also arrive on the Western market.
