Jota’s Porsche #12 smiles
There won’t be any Toyota today in the Hyperpole which will award the pole position of the 101st edition of the 24 hours of Le Mans. Yesterday at the end of Qualifying Kamui Kobayashi exaggerated in the Porsche corners, taking the curb too aggressively, losing the rear and ending up in the gravel.
The Japanese driver’s mistake forced the display of the red flag, putting an early end to Qualifying when there were just under three minutes left until the checkered flag. As a result of this error which led to the red flag for Toyota #7 all the times have been removed and therefore Kobayashi, De Vries and Lopez will start from the 23rd and last position in the Hypercar grid on Saturday at 4pm when the 24 Hours of Le Mans gets underway.
Benefiting from the exclusion of Toyota #7 from the Hyperpole is the Porsche #12 by Jota Sport by Ilott, Stevens and Nato. The eight Hypercars that will compete for pole will be the BMW #15 (Vanthoor-Marciello-Wittman), the Ferrari #50 (Fuoco-Molina-Nielsen), the Ferrari #51 (Pier Guidi-Calado-Giovinazzi), the Porsche #12 (Ilott-Stevens-Nato), the Alpine #35 (Chatin-Gounon-Milesi), the Porsche #6 (Estre-Lotterer-Vanthoor), the Cadillac #3 (Bourdais-Van der Zande-Vautier) and the Cadillac #2 (Bamber-Palou-Lynn).
