Wants the withdrawal of the pre-candidacy of emedebista Gabriel Souza in the state
The former governor of Rio Grande do Sul Eduardo Leite (PSDB) said that the toucans can reassess support for the pre-candidacy of Simone Tebet (MDB) to Palácio do Planalto if an agreement is not reached in Rio Grande do Sul. Leite is a pre-candidate for the government of Rio Grande do Sul and faces an impasse with the party with the pre-candidacy of Gabriel Souza (MDB).
to the newspaper The globe, the toucan stated that during the dialogue between the parties to decide on support for Tebet, it was made clear that the PSDB’s priority would be support in the Rio Grande do Sul elections. The MDB has governed the state for 4 times. The state directorate resists pressure to remove Souza’s name from the dispute.
“It is not just a consideration for political support. It is a clear demonstration of an understanding in a national project. The PSDB is presenting this by giving up. If the partner in the project does not show the same feeling, the relationship needs to be discussed”said Milk.
The former governor said that the party needs to make a gesture of detachment and give up its candidacy in the state, just as the PSDB did with its candidacy for the Planalto. Despite the impasse, the toucan is still hopeful that an agreement will be signed.
In the next few days, Leite should meet with former senator Pedro Simon, an important figure in the Rio Grande do Sul MDB and against the withdrawal of the Emedebista candidacy.
“I hope that we reach an agreement to sign a partnership nationally and that it has its correspondence on the main platforms in the States”said.
Against the backdrop of a break with the party and withdrawal of support for Tebet, the former governor ruled out any intention of a national candidacy. “All my focus is on Rio Grande do Sul”said the toucan.
On March 31, the former governor made official his departure from the state government. In his speech, Leite said it was a “hard decision” and placed himself as a “representative of a nation”.
Leite was overtaken by the former governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), in the toucans’ previews for the Planalto in November last year. After that, he began to give indications that he could run for president by the PSD. However, after an appeal by PSDB representatives, he decided to remain in the acronym. On June 13, he announced his candidacy for the Gaucho government.
