A person convicted of an assault demands that the life sentence be commuted.

Eastern Finland the Court of Appeal will give its decision on the school attack in Kuopio on Thursday, November 4. The decision will be taken at 12 noon.

The Pohjois-Savo District Court ruled in November 2020 Joel Marinin life imprisonment for murder, 20 attempted murder, aggravated damage, attempted assault and violent opposition by an official.

Marin, 27, is calling on the Court of Appeal to commute his life sentence to temporary imprisonment. The man considers that he was guilty of reduced acts when he committed the acts.

The school attack took place in the middle of the lesson on October 1, 2019 at the Savo Vocational College in the Hermann shopping center in Kuopio. One man, a 23-year-old female student, died in the attack.

The Court of Appeal held a main hearing on the matter in September.
